Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

We had such an amazing trip to the pumpkin patch.  Thank you to all of the parents that joined us on this trip.  We are so happy that you were able to spend part of your day with us.  The Peach Tree Farm is always so accommodating.  We love spending the day on their farm.  Here are some pictures of our day.  If you have some pictures that you took on the trip I'd love to see them.  You can email them to me or send them to me via the Remind App.

~Upcoming Field Trip~

This coming Monday, October 3rd will mark our first grade field trip to The Peach Tree Farm.  As a reminder we will leave school at approximately 8:30 a.m. so that we can arrive at The Peach Tree Farm by 9:40 a.m.  If you are a parent volunteer that is chaperoning this field trip, please arrive at the school by 8:00 a.m. so that I can go over the rules and give you a list of children that will be in your group once we arrive at the farm.  Please remember that because of the large group of children we have this year, no parents/guardians will be able to ride the school bus with us to The Peach Tree Farm.  You must drive yourself to the farm at meet us there.  Directions to the farm are listed at the end of this post.  Once we arrive at the farm your child will go through six different stations:  We will read books inside the tepee; go through the straw maze; go on a hayride; visit the bunnies at bunnyville, feed the goats throughout the property, and go into the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins (parents you get a pumpkin too!).  We will eat lunch on the picnic tables at The Peach Tree Farm before loading the buses at 12:45 to leave.  We should arrive back at school at approximately 2:00 pm.  Please remember that if you are wanting to leave with your child after the field trip, you will have to sign your child out.  You can find me after lunch to do so if you need too.  Below are a few pictures from The Peach Tree Farm from previous visits there.  It is a beautiful place and the kids always really enjoy it.  Please check the weather for the day and dress your child appropriately.  Also, tennis shoes must be worn on the day of the trip.  I will send a reminder letter home later this week about field trip so please be on the lookout for it! :)

Field Trip Fun

I want to begin this post by saying thank you to those parents that joined us on the field trip.  I hope you all enjoyed your time with our class.  Trips like these could not be possible without our parent helpers.  We had a great time at The Peach Tree Farm on Wednesday.  Here are a few of the pictures I have edited from our trip.  I will try to post more as the months continue.

A couple of reminders.  This week is parent teacher conferences.  I will be sending home reminder times on Monday in your child's blue homework folder.  Please arrive on time.  Also, please keep in mind that each conference is 15 minutes.  Below are some of the important dates for you to remember for the coming weeks.

Grades will be handed out during parent teacher conferences.

10/27-PT conferences

10/28—Pumpkin Investigations.  We are still in need of pumpkins.  

10/29-PT conferences

10/30 No School

11/2—11/6 Book Fair in the Elementary Library

11/4– Our class will visit the book fair on this day.  Flyers will go home next week.

11/9—NO SCHOOL Staff PD day.

11/13—Major Savor Assembly

11/24—Midterms go home.

Field Trip to be Rescheduled

Well the field trip today certainly didn't go as planned.  We got there and it immediately began to rain, lightening, and thunder.  Obviously, the safety of our students was top priority.  We thought it best to make the trek back home.  No need to worry though we WILL reschedule the field trip.  Of course this was not what we had hoped would happen today and we apologize for any inconvience this has caused some of you who took a days vacation to make it on the trip with your first grader.  We hope that you will be able to chaperone again when we return.  If for some reason you are not able to make the trip, we will refund your money.  We will try to reschedule a trip as soon as possible.  The Peach Tree Farm quickly fills up with visitors and we will have to check dates with the bus barn as well.  We will let you know as soon as we have something planned.  Thank you all for your understanding.  I was able to take a few snapshots of our few minutes on the farm.  Enjoy!
