Paws for Reading

Our class is going to be teaming up with kids around the country in a pledge to read every day to help Scholastic donate 250,000 books to kids in need.  All your child has to do is read at home for at least 20 minutes each day.  This reading campaign is called Paws for Reading!  Your child will track their time spent reading with a book or an ebook and then log their reading minutes (with the help of you) at the Paws for Reading website.  Then, a child in need gets a book of their own!!!!  This is a great program that I hope you all take the time to participate in.  I am so happy to be able to partner with Scholastic in promoting literacy both in and outside of the classroom.  Scholastic has enabled me to create a large classroom library and in turn our class would like give to those that are less fortunate.  Please join me in reading 20 minutes each day.  And don't forget to log your hours.  You can learn more information at www.scholastic.com/paws .

  Paws for Reading

Today our class will pick whether they are reading for cats or dogs.  In your child's Friday folder, he/she will receive a letter about Paws for Reading, a reading log, and a pledge card.  All you have to do is read and log your minutes at the above Paws for Reading website.

Every 20 minutes of reading logged by a student will count toward a free book for a child in need.

Happy Reading!!
